Daniel Bays taught at the University of Kansas for 25 years as well as serving as the Director of Asian studies there before moving to Calvin University in 2000 where he became the founding Director of the Hubers Asian Studies Program. He was the editor of Christianity in China: From the Eighteenth Century to the Present (Standford University Press, 1999), and the author of A New History of Christianity in China (Wiley-Blackwell, 2011) as well as several other books on Christianity in China. He died in 2019.
